You nut! I've tried to contact you various times. Even called your work
once and left a voice mail message. Here I was reading your post thinking
'I'm going to have to give Dave a hard time, where the heck has he been?'
And then there you directly respond to me in the PS! Well, welcome back.
I'm glad to see you are still among the Alpines.

I don't have many answers to your questions. I do know that the guy who
resprung my Alpine distributor said he just sprung it like he springs his
Lotus distributors. I am using the Lumination electronic ignition. I am
happy with it and have not had any problems. I do believe there are
different Lumination ones since I paid less than $100 and I've seen them
advertised from many times that. I hear that the Pertronix, or something
like that, is very popular. That is the one that fits inside of the
distributor. I know that mine has all these nice cooling fins on it. So,
I wonder how that one cools itself, or just works differently. Some swear
by the Crane one, then others say it is no good.

I had custom pistons made. The guy who rebuilt the engine ordered them. I
forget if they are Jahn's or Aria's (I'm not sure how either are spelled).
He had them made to specs of his Lotus pistons so he could use his
"special" rings that he has for Lotus'. They are 55 over. Oh, and they
also use the Lotus wrist pin, so he sleeved the top of the rods. I trust
this guy. So, I'm going on that faith that those sleeves he used on the
rods are not the weak point in my engine.

I guess now that you are back, you probably still want pictures from me of
my engine.

Jay
