Dick,
you are correct, the Sunbeam Alpine Owners Club (SAOC) does cater for
Venezia's.
I am not sure about the CKD element though, Touring Superleggera of
Turin are an Italian coachbuilder who were commissioned ot build a high
spec Gran Tourisimo for Rootes.
The car is, as far as I know, a composite of many Rootes parts and an
aluminium body, the rear lights are the same as the Alpine but the front
lights are rather more Humber Sceptre, as is the windscreen.
Ther eis one car in the UK whihc I drove in 1988 wihc had comleted only
2200 miles at that time. Can't remember the licence plate, but it was in
a car showroom in Manchester, England, and I borrowed it for a classic
show. All the expert checked it out over the weekend and it was crtainly
genuine.
Superleggera's main input to the Alpine was as well documented, the
triming of the fins for the series 4/5 and the revised fuel tank set-up.
Some may remember, that their badges also adorn some rather nice Aston
Martins. Thus proving that James Bond was actually a Superleggera fan
rather than Aston or Sunbeam ??? 8-))
