I recently acquired two original full page SUNBEAM advertisements. These
ads are unique in that they extoll the virtues of driving a SUNBEAM with
an automatic transmission. The ads were purchased from Alpine list
member Jeff Hacker, and the quality of the ads is good. I scanned the
ads and you can see them off my alpine page at
www.geocities.com/MotorCity/Flats/3725/Alpine.html.

The first ad (120 Kbytes) declares a British sports car with an American
automatic transmission to be a Powerful Idea! The accompanying picture
is the interior of the car. I noticed two differences between the
featured car and my car. The pictured car has the turn signal indicator
on the RHS of the steering column (LHS in my car). More importantly, the
dash in the pictured car is highly polished or varnished wood. The dash
in my car is simply black vinyl.

The second ad (85 Kbytes) is sure to elicit some odd looks from SUNBEAM
Tiger owners. This Ad claims that SUNBEAM now has an Automatic Tiger...
The accompanying picture shows a real tiger with an automatic
transmission shift lever assembly installed on its back. The text of the
ad says the automatic is the "roaring twin" (as in Tiger roar) of the
manual Alpine.
