Tim,
There have been several threads on media blasting on the following BB:
http://www.horizonweb.com/wwwboard/Spray_101/wwwboard.html
About 1 to 2 weeks ago there were several folks telling how much it cost them to have
their cars media blasted. You might want to check there. I think that everyone of them
had a plastic media (as opposed to sand or aluminum oxide) used and made sure that the
operator was experienced.
This seems to be one of those semi-religious discussions. The advocates of media
blasting worry that dipping a car will/might result in future seepage of the liquid
"from places that you can never get too" and ruin a paint job. The advocates of dipping
point out that blasting can workharden the sheet metal, distort panels, and put the
media "into places that you can never clean it out from". Many of the people on the BB
mentioned above perform high end painting and have advocates of both methods.
