Racing Spark Plugs

I came across a set of 4 Autolite spark plugs. They are in these neat
plastic tubes with orange plastic caps and metal bottoms. The plugs
themselves are marked "Autolite AG603 RACING". Anyone have any idea what
these might be? They were actually sitting in the bottom of a long ignored
Alpine that appeared to have seen some racing days and modifications.

The tip is very unusual too. Rather than the center point that is
surrounded in white ceramic sticking out, it stays inside of the hole by
about 1/8". There is no little arm that loops up and over the tip, but a
little metal pin that was pressed in through the threads and points
straight at the side of the metal tip. I can't see any way to adjust the
gap - unless there is some way to push that pin in and out. I have drawn
as ASCI picture below. I have no idea if it helps.

I'm going to go see if I can find an Autolite web site.

(The z's are the threaded outside of the plug. The [] is the tip of the
plug. The / \ is the ceramic. and the -+---- is the pin)
