In Finland we have a system of "periodic vechicle" which means easines in
such as tax, insurance etc. things. It is a system for 25+ years old cars &
motos, which are accepted as "period" in their appearence.
That means that my Alpine is able to be tuned to a mild street comp stage,
because it was quite common for brit sports cars. Such "customizing" is
totally prohibited for let us say Mercedes saloons, because it was not
popular then.
I suffered my Zeniths as long as they were even a bit safe - and they were
not original, but came with my Mk 4. No idea when they were fitted, at
works or at first restauration. But export cars did differ from country to
country...
Now I have 2 Strombergs and a Mk5 inlet manifold, and I hope it is original
enough to pass the inspect. (The guy will be a true Lotus enthustian, if I
quess right.....)
So, twin Weber sidedraughts (sorry, Guinness draughts??) are also a perfect
"period" fit. Originality is a matter of taste, isn't it?
Save the original set of inlet & carbs, but use next 30 years a set which
is good for your Alpines“ health?
That is my 0.02 Euro, I have not found that funny "E" letter in my keyboard...
