You can check the sender just by measuring the resistance across it as
the motor warms up and comparing it with the data at the site above.
You can check the gauge by connecting various resistances (again from
the site) in place of the sender unit and observing the gauge. You need
the ignition on (engine off) for this step. NOTE - don't short the gauge
straight to ground or you may damage the gauge.
In the US, Rick at Sunbeam Specialities has the sender units, otherwise
one from a V12 Jag will work.
