Many years ago, I tried to drive my Series IV up a curb at 45 mph (not
intentionally) tore up the front end bad.....not to mention the wheels.
My friend and I found an old Hillman at Ecology Salvage and took some
front end parts to rebuild my Alpine. After careful inspection of the
newly obtained parts, we noticed that the spindle was not in the
location. After assembly, the front end was lower than stock. It looked
good! Unfortunately, the frame was bent in the accident and I ended up
selling the car for $300.00

Subject: Lowering Your Front Suspension 1"
Does anybody have anything to add to the thread I tried to start about
lowering your Alpine/TIger front suspension without losing any
suspension
travel ? Am I the only one in the world who lowered his Alpine using
Hillman
spindles ? Does anybody else have any of these spindles? I wrote to
Grimes
in London and they don't have any spindles available. For those of you
who
missed my post::
The spindles I am talking about came off a 60's Hillman that had 15"
wheels. The axles are forged 1" above the lower ball joint mount. The
part
number stamped on the spindles is
1990445 17230 LS & RS (right side). Also is EN6CGS6-S J4S8.
Does anybody out there have any ? I would like to obtain another set. I
have images upon demand. Bob
