Vince, you should look for a Series V Alpine, completely original and in
excellent condition if you want the most sought after car, that is
appreciating in value. It should be rust free, crash free ,with good
mechanicals, top, interior and paint.
I know of such a car for sale as I am the one who restored it. I originally
purchased it in New Mexico, so it is a rust free SW desert car. The paint
was gone to the sun and the interior was cracking into little pieces. The
chrome and alloy was in perfect condition , the engine had been rebuilt
professionally about 25,000 miles ago and I was going to convert it to a V6.
When I got it home I realized that it was a completely original and
unbutchered car and had all the correct stock equipment, right down to the
hub cap trim rings. I rebuilt the hydrayulics and went through all the
mechanicals and then my nephew painstakingly took every little parking lot
ding out of the body with a spot weld body puller. There is no putty in the
car...he ground the sides perfectly smooth. It is Porshe Blood Red (almost
original Carnival Red less a little orange) and I completely re-upholstered
the inside. Dash, Seats, side and kick panels, New Top and Tonneau. I sold
the car to my wifes foot Doctor about one and a half years ago and he gave
it to his wife for a present. She liked it but didn't love it (manual shift,
manual top) and opted for a new Chrysler convertible this year so it is now
for sale again...with only a few hundred miles more than when I sold it to
him. He is asking $6500 for it (what I sold it for) and if you are
interested you can reach him at (619) Home 486-4255 work 485-1531.
I consider the car to be a condition 2 car...and it drives beautifully; I
once drove it from San Diego to Phoenix to a potential buyer ...getting
almost 30 mpg and no problem with overheating, even though it was over 110
degrees in phoenix. I have lots of pictures available and it is on the
internet advertised at www.specialcar.com . Please review the attached
photos and let me know if you're interested. This is really a nice car ...a
keeper.
