OK. Now it's Real Obvious (except I think the schematic shouldn't use the
same line type for "add" and "substitute" entries). I don't actually have
an ammeter yet, just want to wire for it.
So, this means that a single instrument failure can stop the car from
starting. Hmmm...
Is a voltmeter a reasonable alternative?

Ron Martel mentioned something about bushings in a yakk we had. Try him at robmartel(at)hotmail.com.
There was a thread some time back about bushings for the front end, I think on the torsion bar. The general consensus (that I recall) is that Stiffer equals Tighter (connection of parts to each other). Given that at the rear end the effect of tight bushings is probably far overrun by the effect of the leaf springs, I doubt it would matter much except if what you had was near-useless already.
