Kevin,
It is quite common for paint shops to have the ability to color match
the original color provided you can bring some "original color" to them
for a "computer scan". The latch plate under the hood is a likely
candidate since the back side was originally painted and it is pretty
unlikely that it has been repainted. Even if the car has been repainted
it is unlikely that this plate was removed, much more likely just
painted over. At the paint shop they should be able to give you the
formula for a modern paint formulation.
