Rear Diff

Yesterday, while working on my rear shocks, I decided to turn the brake
drum and count the revolutions to each turn of the drive shaft.
First - there seemed to be some play in the wheel before the drive shaft
would react. Is this normal?
I would get just about 4 wheel turns to one drive shaft turn. I presume
this means I have a 3.89 rearend. Is that correct.

What about the play in the rear end. What do I do about that.
