When I bought my Series 1, the front bumber bracket was bent so I purchased
another, and removed my bumper. A DPO had welded the bolt and nut in place. I
had to cut the bolt to get the bent bracket off. What I discovered what that
the bolt is supposed to be placed into the slot above the jack bracket. When
you tighten the nut, everthing stays in place. At least that is how it is on my
car.
