It attaches at the bottom with two sheet metal screws into flanges
welded to the floor. The flanges have u-shaped sheet metal "nuts"
(don't know what else to call them). The bumpers Jay refers to simply
rest against the firewall and there is no attachment at the top. The
carpet snaps to the footrest near the top (there should be 2 male snaps
on the plate) and is not glued. There's a lot of space behind the
footrest and it's a very convenient place to mount a CD changer or an
amp if you have a stereo.
