Starting

I have my electronic ignition in and the car runs pretty good, but.

When starting, it takes about 3 tries of 10-15 seconds cranking to get
it to start. During this time the oil pressure comes up to 50 then to
70-75 when running.
Is this due to lack of fuel getting in the carb, should I pump the
accelerator prior to starting? It seams that it should start quicker.
Any suggestions?
Rob
