First congratulations on the purchase. I too am a proud owner of a SIII
GT. There is a SIII registry that you should be sure to list your car on.
Let Scott know at Scott.Christie(at)gecapital.com. You can find a list of the
SIII's (without owner's names) at sunbeamalpine.com.

As to the Alpine-500, I don't think I'm going too far out on a limb here in
saying that is NOT factory. I believe it was Ian Gerrard who put a badge
on a Tiger of his that had a big "V8" symbol. I can't remember if it was
the very first Tiger, or a Tiger that was campaigned in racing. I do know
that others copied it. But, it was not "500." This badge might also have
been used in Europe for the "Alpine-V8." But, I'm not sure.

I would be interested to know why that was done. I presume they did not
shrink the engine to 500cc. I also presume there is no 500 cu in engine
under the hood.

Lastly, note that you posted your inquiry to the Tiger group, and I have
copied it to the Alpine group. There are plenty of cross-listers. But, I
thought I'd point out that there are more than one that you might want to
join.
