Hello Terry & Everyone:
The head will be coming off in a week or two for investigation and repair. In
the meantime, even though it took a few days to really work, the Prestone stop
leak (specifically said on the bottle that it will seal head gaskets) finally
seems to be doing its thing. No more leakage, water or steam, from the head. I
know it's a temporary fix, but it has allowed me to continue driving the car,
seemingly with no ill effect. I know I'll have to flush out the cooling system
when I get things permanently fixed and back together.

Now here's my new problem for the list. It dumped rain here in the Los Angeles
area today and I drove at high speed on the freeway for about an hour in a
downpour. The top is watertight, other than a couple of minor drips where the
side rails meet the front at the windshield. On the other hand, I noticed that
I had an inch of standing water on the floor on the side of the passenger
seat, right next to the door sill! This is not good. I can't see any evidence
where it leaked in from above. The only possibility seems to be the passenger
door seal. The drivers door seal lets a little water in, but not to the extent
the passenger door does. These are relatively new seals from Sunbeam
Specialties and upon investigation have found that they look good but to not
make a full seal with the doors. Has anyone out there found better (thicker)
seals for this purpose?

By the way, I did also get a few drips from under the dash onto my left leg
but I can't quite figure out where that would come from. It does not appear to
be from the fresh air vent area. Any ideas anyone?
