I am painting some parts and have a question.
I have removed all paint from the timing chain cover and the side plate.
Both were painted on both sides.
Why would someone paint the inside of these, including the gasket surfaces?
They will certainly never rust [from the engine side] and if the paint ever
flakes off in there it can do nothing good.
My project is coming along slowly. Last weekend, after endless preping, I
sprayed the engine compartment with everything removed except the steering.
Used PPG products, a sealer and acrylic enamel. Also painted the underside
of the bonnet.
With the help of several PTC members I hope to get the engine assembled and
installed in a couple weeks and maybe running soon after.
