Not that I've ever had one, but the ammeter is connected in series with
the power to the harness, and if it fails - no power. People I've spoken
to seem to be skittish about using them because of bad experiences.
Also, the ammeter is at the end of a 44-strand wire, thicker than most
other wires, and I'll bet many people use undersized wire.
