Chris,
Just a short tale from over here.
the reason I bought my Alpine to restore was that I had been helping to
care for my Father for over a year. He had alzheimers (MID type), and I was
going crazy just sitting in the house watching him, so I bought the car,
stuck it in the garage and set to work: I would nip into the house every
10/15 minutes to check on him. Of course as I was stripping out interiors
or welding sill's , my mind would often wander to thoughts of my youth,
family life etc. I spent two or three nights a week and most sundays
working on the car and checking on my old dad.
(he didn't recognize me, couldn't walk, talk, feed himself doubly
incontinent etc...)
After four years, he died.
I think there's a lot of him in that car, now, and a lot of memories.
I could never sell that car, even though it's a total wreck.
It was the partly dream of the open road on a Sunny day that got me through.
May I suggest you shelf the project, don't sell it, There's no harm in
a little escapism, you've got to "compartmentalise" your thoughts, time and
energies.
Regards
