I dont remmember where i read the procedure.

Here's what I do.

Take out any damping oil from the covers, and clean the dampers.
You dont want the viscous oil to alter the way that the piston moves
when you test it later.

Put in your diaphragm+cover, tighten down the 4 screws like you would
do a cyl head. Dont ever remove or loosen these screws again, or start
the whole process over.

Loosen the jet locking nut, then screw the main jet adjustment all the
way in. Give the pistons a few lift/drops to be certain that the needles
move the jets to where the belong (giving the main adjustments a small
whack or two seem to work too).
Carefully Tighten the locking nut.

If the pistons slide up without any noticable bind, screw the main
adjustments out 1.5 turns, and be sure that the needles still dont bind.
Lift the pistons to full lift, and drop them. You should hear a click
as the piston hits its home position. Both carbs should move and sound
the same.

Put some new oil in the carbs and you are done.
