If you find the needles still binding up as you tighten the nut - try the
"shaken, not stirred" method :
Loosen the nut again as above and screw in the main jet adjustment all the
way.
Grasp the carb (or carb assembly) firmly, and shake it up and down
vigorously for five to ten seconds. You should be able to hear the piston(s)
slapping down each time.
Tighten the nut a few turns; repeat shaking, and check for free piston
travel.
Repeat until nut is tight. When you back off the adjustment jet, you should
find the needles centered and the pistons falling freely.
In the toughest cases, slight adjustments to the relative tightness of each
of the four top cover screws may do the job.
