After some further reading, I *think*
the suffixes are as follows
CD ... "Constant Depression".
As used on series V Alpines.
S ... "Starter" separate starter assembly,
replaces the rotating starter bar on CD model
NOT used on the Series V Alpine.(??)
                 (although used on 1966 Sceptre / Vogue / Hunter ?? )
E ... "Emission" Emission-controlled version of CDS
                  primarily for American market ??.
3 ... mid 1970's carb, altered jet / metering adjustment system
(possibly the "3rd" variant of the carb's basic design)
I've obviously been reading to many
Hillman / Humber / Singer / Sunbeam manuals. Must "get a life" :-)
Looks like the MoProd kits I've got will do for basic overhaul,
though I'll need to check those float chamber gaskets.
I just want some carbs I can bolt on to a rebuilt engine to get
it running, and my knowledge of 'how carbs work' aint too good.
( I'll save my ex-Rapier twin Zeniths for another day!)
