I went to the Monterey show on Sunday. There were a nice assortment of
the usual cars, but one really stood out: Brian Holmes series V. This
was a very nice, full race prepped car, complete with the sidedraught
Weber 40 DCOEs. He claims 196 hp. Momma!
The show in Dixon that is coming up on May 16th usually has more cars and
more people that showed up in Monterey. I met a few guys from the list
who said they may make it to Dixon. I hope to see listers there.
One quick question. People keep mentioning the weakness in the number 3
journal bearing from poor oiling. I assume this is true in the early
series cars, as the engine in my series II had a broken #3 con rod when I
bought the car. It actually blew a hole in the side of the block. I now
have a series V motor in the car. Do the later engines suffer from the
same oiling problem?
