What I mean by adjusting the fast running adjustment is that the throttles
relation to the amount of choke given is pretty important.
This is adjustable with a cam on the choke lever that engages
a flat headed screw. The screw is used to sync the throttle with
the choke lever.
I suggest you give a greater level of throttle opening when choked.
If the engine sputters in a rich misfire, then reduce the level of throttle
opening.
If the carbs are in good order, there should be a sweet spot that will
allow easy starting.
The strombergs are not the best carbs in the world, but they should certainly
start better than you seem to seeing.
