Well the amount of power that the 40DGAV carb gives is directly related
to the amount of modifications to the attached engine.
On its own, the 40DFAV will only provide 5 or 6 additional horsepower,
due to enhanced breathing at the top end. Some low end torque will likely
be lost due to the less optimal fuel delivery at low RPMs.
Whats important about the 40DFAV carb is that it has larger chokes than
the 32/36 DGV/DGEV/DVAV carburettors, and can deliver more air/fuel at
higher
loads with a lower pressure differential.
This means that modified engines that need more air/fuel than the usual
OEM and aftermarket carbs, have the option of using the higher performance
carb, that bolts one, and requires very little modification.
