Jan, loved the shots of the Quad4 in your car. Here is a thought to
consider. My dad and I built a kit car back in the 70s. It's a great car
and he still has it. Originally we put a turbo charged VW in it. When
that engine called it quits, he wanted to put a V6 in. He found a Fiero GT
V6 that had been totalled. He was just going to buy the engine. I said he
should get everything - fuel injection, computer, wiring harness, etc.
Over his better judgement, he did, and installed it all. It actually
turned out for the best. Had he not done so, he never would have been able
to get the car to pass California emissions/smog testing. But, since he
could show the state inspector that each and every smog device was in place
and functioning, he passed with flying colors.
I realize that you have a fit problem and I realize that you might not have
a smog testing problem YET. But, it may be coming; many states are
hopping on the California smogwagon. So consider that risk before you
commit yourself to an engine.
