The talk of steering boxes has brought a few people with experience out
of the woodwork, so I thought I would try my luck with my car's little
ahem, incontinence problem.
The manual calls for 30wt oil in the steering box. I obliged. The 30wt
oil drained itself out of the bottom of my steering box over a period of
time.
Two possibilities:
1. The seal on the output arm is toast. Can this be replaced (fairly
easily) on the car?
2. The seal will be OK with 90wt oil, as used by Rob N. Any opinions on
the use of this heavier oil. I can't see why you would need 30wt oil in
there. Hmmm, maybe muggins here misread the manual...
Cheers,
Paul.
