Well, I am still aiding my friend in the reassembly of his Series 3 pretty
much done now. The car looks great. Now I am still dreaming of my own
Alpine. The lead on the Series 5 is still waiting. The owner of the car is
out of town and supposed to contact us when he returns. So since I have time
to contemplate I guess I should ask what are the things which should turn me
away from any potential cars? What to look for? At first I thought rotted
floors, cruddy body and even frame rot might stop me but I ran into all of
that on my friends car and we sucked it up, pulled out the welder and fixed
it. Ok, so the floor patches wont win any shows, and boxing in the frame
didnt exactly look stock either, but Im looking for drivers not show cars.
So is there anything which I should definitely just say no to? Yes I do have
my limits...the parts car for my Austin Healy proved that to me....there is
no structure to that car so I abandoned all hope of restoration and turned it
into parts. Oh well Im just rambling to fill my time till I find an Alpine
to call my own. All help, leads, references to therapists gladly accepted.
:)
Jim
