Terry, William, List,
Don't take all that abuse from your car! Disconnect the intake and
exhaust maniflod, get some brass freeze plugs. Take the old freeze plugs
out, and use a coat hanger to loosen all the crud back by the last cylinder.
Wash it out with a garden hose. Keep doing this till it is pretty clean.
Then take some HCl acid and pour it in the block till it fills up the block
to the bottom of the freeze plug hole and let it sit. drain it out after a
while though the petcock using a rubber hose to catch it and drain it into a
bucket. Use the coat hanger again and rinse the block again and again.
Should get a pound of crud/sand/rust/scale. Push the new freeze plugs in
using sealant. I would not take out the rear one while it is in the car
unless you a a much better mech than I! If you take off the head, and water
pump you can do a better job, yet this should REALLY cool you down. Use all
applicable eye protection, gloves etc.
Get a 4 row high efficiency radiator core added to your stck tanks.
Bolsa Radiator in Westminister Ca. did mine for both a tiger and my Series 3
which I drive every day in Yuma Az. and I never overheat, and I just had my
heater control valve go bad (leak) yet I never boil! Bolsa Radiator will
mail the rad back to you. Give them a call 714 892-2211 or 714 897-2211
can't tell if the 6th number is a 7 or a 2 because my paper is very old.
They are still in business, drove by there 3 days ago when I went to see my
mom. Lou
