RE: Alpines on the Brain

The bottom 6 inches of the whole car looked an awful lot like swiss cheese.
The floor pans all the way up under the dash were shot as well as the inner
fenders where they met the floor pan. All of the lower fnders were shot as
well as the inside of the trunk. I didn't pull off the rockers yet to check
the sills but I assume they were pretty rusty. Anywhere two pieces of sheet
metal met it was rotted. It wasn't so much that it couldn't be repaired. It
was that I didn't want to spend the huge amounts of cash and time that would
be needed to fix all the rot. Of course it isn't acually scrapped yet. It is
behind the garage and covered. I may decide to do some sort of modification
to it someday when I am rich and bored.

Yes, the new car was Bob's and it is in great shape. I am days away from
starting it for the first time and can't wait to drive it around. Bob did a
great job rebuilding the engine. He incorporated many the suggestions from
the Sunbeam race tuning guide (lightened fly wheel, Holbay spec cam, etc.)
He also managed to find a Holbay cylinder head which I had rebuilt. It
should give my new 600x13 bias-plys a run for their money :) I have been
spending the last few days buffing out the paint. It's actually starting to
look like a pretty nice car.
