Finally registered my Alpine today.
Got my car insured over the weekend by phone with Hagerty Insurance. I
highly recommend this agency. They faxed me proof of insurance on
Saturday so I could drive my car on Monday. Their high book value
coverage on an Alpine V is $10,500. This was my automatic coverage
amount. I want more coverage and they said just to send copies of
receipts to verify what I have in it. The premium (at) $10.5k is
$92/year, and they're not sticklers on mileage; no limits!! The only
requirement is that the vehicle be kept in a locked garage. Additional
coverage is only $6 per $1000 additional. What a deal!!
Drove my car to work and boy did I love it. Felt like a teenager
again. Had a little trouble with the valve train but was able to fix
it. So far so good. The sticking brake is the left rear and it seems
to come and go. I'm hoping it will just break in. The only major
concern is the oil pressure.
I am currently running non-detergent 30W oil. At cold startup,
pressure is between 50-60lbs at idle. However, after the car warms up,
the oil pressure drops significantly. At running speeds it is at or
just below 20lbs. At idle it hangs somewhere between 5-10lbs. Not
sure what to check first. Pressure relief valve? Just doesn't seem
right that the pressure would start out so good and then drop that
much. A little drop is expected, but not over 40lbs. Smitty
recommended replacing the pump. Anybody else have a suggestion?
