Re: Series V soft top

I installed my Robbins top with only verbal instructions from Smitty
and it turned out just about as good as I could have hoped.
For the bows: I used standard black seatbelt material for the
connection between the two bows at the rear. To connect the foward bow
to the front bow I used a rubberized elastic material obtainable from
any upholstery shop. I cut it so that it would just start to stretch
when the top is fully up. The clips on my top that attached onto the
rear bows are as Russ described them, about 2"x1/2" rectangular plates
with raised edges on them. The raised edge installed toward the bow
and the plated are riveted into place. The plate for the front bow was
missing, so I had to fabricate one. My rear bow (the round one) did
not have padding on it, but was covered with some sort of fabric. I
left it as bare painted metal and everything works ok.
Installing the top is not as hard as it looks. Just go slow and be
patient.
