Kurt ! This is the first I've heard of your frustrations........sounds like
to me that the cam I gave to Schneider to regrind could have been the wrong
one! When I picked up the car the engine was in pieces, there were a couple
of cast iron heads from some other rootes engine that had different style
valves, must have been the cam for whatever rootes engine that is, with a
different firing order? I'm sure if you don't use a series I-IV cam you
will have to change the gear on the oil pump because they are different. I
have another cam here that may be the original one from the engine. I
suggest getting a new cam from Sunbeam Specialties the Hi Performance one.
Let me look in the garage and see if there's another cam there that might be
the original one from the engine? I showed all the cams I had to Smitty
before I took one to Schneider and we measured the lobes to find the best
one for regrind...without ever imagining that I had a cam for the other
rootes engine mixed in.
Don't feel bad...this sort of thing happens to Ford people too who try to
put a 351 cam in a 260/289/302 as the 351 has a different firing order.
