I took my first successful ride in the Alpine today. Whoohoo that was fun!
If you ignore the feeling of impending doom that I had the entire time that
is. :)
Either tearing down and cleaning the fuel pump or straightening the fuel
line solved my fuel delivery problem. I had a big loop of rubber hose
connecting the fuel line to the fuel pump. I cut farther back into the fuel
line and put a nice straight piece of rubber hose into the pump. I had no
problems during the ride.
I used a Uni-Syn to synchronize the two carbs. I highly recommend getting
one of these if you are running a two carb setup. I tried following the
workshop manual steps several times, always with the same result. The car
would fluctuate between 300 RPM and 2000 RPM at idle. I loosened the link
between the two carbs and set the idle speed on each one using the Uni-Syn
and the fluctuation disappeared.
Thanks to everyone who helped me out this weekend. It is good to be among
the driving crowd now.
Kurt
