This might give you a clue.......it's taken from the Tech Tip by Tom W. on
how to convert a positive ground to a negative ground. Seems to me that this
would be a sure way to tell. Keep in mind that this is referring to a
Negative ground system so if a Positive ground would be reverse.
2. Coil
Unplug the wires at the ignition coil and replace them on the opposite
posts. The wire from the distributor should now be to the negative (-) side
of the coil, and the wire from the ignition switch will be to the positive
(+) side.
