Well I rebuilt my front brake calipers yesterday hoping to solve my brake
lockup problem. I thought that I had hit paydirt when I pulled off the
drivers side caliper and found a big old blob of silicone on one of the
pistons. God knows why it was there. After pulling both calipers apart I
cleaned them and put in new rubber and stainless steel pistons. When I put
them back in however, they both rubbed pretty much constantly. It is not a
serious rub but I can hear it when I spin the wheel and when I took it for a
drive the brakes locked up again. Is this light rub enough to make the fluid
heat up and lock up the brakes or am I chasing down the wrong path here? If
the rub is enough then I am in trouble because I had the pistons pushed in
as far as they would go.
Thanks,
Kurt
