I'm trying to refit the overdrive to the gearbox. (63 ser III )
I'm pretty sure the two sets of splines at the back of the OD are lined up,
to within a degree or two, and the pump lobe on the box output shaft is set
ok,
but the OD still slides up the shaft and then stops with a 20mm gap between
mating surfaces.
( i.e. a few mm before the lobe engages the pump roller/arm )
I've given it a right good "shoogle", tried it without the washer on the
box splines,
even tried a few light taps with the B.F.Hammer.
tried the whole thing three or four times, but no luck .
Any ideas?
(that don't involve "Rootes Group Special Tool Number XXX")
