I should point out that even though the 4" gap I have appears to have
always been there, I do think it looks funny. One other person measured
their Alpine and told me it measured 3.5". If you look at pictures of
Alpines in the various books, I really don't think they all sit up that
high. Somewhere there is a factory prescribed measurement. I think it is
something like 6" from ground to body at the two ends of the rocker panel
(but that measurement can be wrong, this is only from memory). This
measurement would also only apply to full profile 60's tires with full
inflation. But, at the least, you can get the two points and determine if
the car is horizontally oriented as it should be.

P.S. Why is it called a rocker panel? Even think back to older cars with
"real" fenders, they had running boards, not rocker panels.
