This is very true. I can relate a short story to this problem. I have
always been able to get between 40,000bps and 48,000bps connections. One
day the phone company came and installed a new phone to an office that
is downstairs in the building that I live in. From that day forward, I
could only connect at 14,000bps. Needless to say, I was quite upset and
immediately called the phone company to bitch. I was told that the phone
company would only honor a 14.4 connection for normal voice lines. If I
wanted my good connection back, I would have to pay for a business line.
Well...to make a long story short, I bitched enough that they came and
fixed the problem. But, this made me think...and reflect on a previous
conversation I had with Jerome a few month back. Most people pay good
money for a 56K modem and can't even get the phone company to provide
service to it. I used this as part of my argument, because the phone
company (who at that time was my ISP)had advertised 56K service. Now,
they no longer do.

Any how, back to the point and some Alpine content. This is one problem
I am having with the workshop manual on my website. I can't seem to scan
all the pages at a happy resolution that gives me a small enough file
size with a picture that everyone can still read and download quickly.
Unless I type everypage by hand (Ugggghhhh) I'm not sure of the best way
to acomplish the task and get the best results.
Anyhoo...that's my 2 cents. Good point Jerome! ;-) Ian
