Rick asks:
>And where is the darn ground for the rear brake lights??
There is none. That is, the only ground is the mounting screws. This is
the same for the front turnsignal lights. So, if those screws are corroded
or you have new paint, you may not have a good ground. I went and made new
"real" grounds for each.
Also note that the headlights have a ground that goes up and attaches to a
neat little piece under the front bonnet rubber bumper. These have a
tendency to get messed up to and should probably be cleaned up and
reattached.
While we are on the topic of grounds, I'll bring up something that comes up
often, but then it probably should. The ground strap between the
transmission and the chassis gets gunked up with oil, etc., which does seem
to work its way in and around the mating surfaces. So, if you are having
charging problems or other unidentified electrical problems, it's always
good to pull that strap off, and clean all the ends and the surfaces it
mates to.
Happy lighting.
