My 1592 engine has always run hot (around 180). This weekend it got
REAL hot (195 and 3 quarts of water in 100 miles).
There are no leaks. Pressure test is fine. I pulled the thermostat and
boiled it. It opens properly. The coolant is just plain boiling out.
I pulled the rad today, and flushed it out from bottom to top. No crud
came out, it was just clear water. I am taking it to a rad shop
tomorrow for a "flow test". I am unfamiliar with this procedure. Is it
any different than what I just did? If the flow test checks out, I plan
to pull the hose off the water pump at the water jacket input with the
rad on and full, and the engine running, and see if the water pump is
pumping. Is this correct procedure? What do I do if everything except
the water jacket checks out? There is about 10,000 miles on the
engine, which was boiled out before reassembly. Hints? Tips?
