Hello all,
I am sponsoring the first ever Sunbeam Lake Sunbeam BBQ. I will look
into park availability, but I think we should be able to find a spot on or
around 17 October. Even then, the amount of people who are willing to drive
to El Centro can't be that high! No, there will be no awards, races, or mind
bending rallies. I will provide a sanitary BBQ, site and if there are
bachelors who don't want to fool with cooking, I will provide chow for a
small fee. The rest of you can kill and age your own beef, pork, or chicken.
You can slice it, fillet it, marinate it and BBQ it all yourself.
The purpose of the event is to just hang out, sit around and talk about
that car we have been restoring for the past 8 years, or ogle the ones that
are finally done and made it to Sunbeam Lake without catastrophic engine
failure.
Any suggestions on ways to improve it without turning it into a
logistical nightmare and making it un-fun for me are welcome!
Why 17 October? 1. Don't want to conflict with British Car day, a
SOGofSD pilgrimage event. 2. Aug & Sep are too hot 3. Snowbirds will
overwhelm the lake any later
Since I did mention this to 4 members of the Sunbeam Owners Group of
San Diego, I guess this could be considered a club event, assuming they get
it into the newsletter in time! If all else fails, I will be there with
Baby Louie, Baby Lizzie, The Wife, and one or another cars! Lou
