Am not having much luck lately. Found the reason for getting the car into
second gear was because the shifter was loose, an easy fix but now the
electrics are giving me trouble. At first the starter would not turn over,
just spin. Checked the voltage on the battery and it was just over 10 volts.
Charged the battery for a couple of hours and tried starting the car with
the charger to no avail. The battery read over 12 volts at the start but
after a couple of tries it was back down to 10. Tried a spare battery that
is in the garage with the same results. Thought that maybe the starter was
bad so replaced it, again no change with the problem. Called AAA to give me
a jump thinking that maybe the battery charger had gone south. Got the car
started, voltage read 14.2 volts and everything looked ok except that there
was no charge indication on the ammeter. After running for about fifteen
minutes the car just died for no apparent reason and the battery voltage is
back to just over 10 volts. Like the car but am getting rather frustrated
with something new going wrong once one problem is corrected.
