My Imp is usually only run every few weeks. I was having problems keeping
the battery charged, so I fitted one of those "Dis-car-nect" devices - don't
know if they're called that in the States. It fits inline between one of the
battery terminals and the cable. Turning a knob on the device disconnects
the battery from the rest of the car. Since fitting it the battery stays
charged.
On my Alpine I've fitted a race-type kill switch which I switch off when the
car isn't in use.
