Directional Stick Thing

When I was rebuilding my directional switch a few weeks back I was forced to
drill out the rivet that held the assembly together so that I could replace
the plastic piece that holds the switch in position. I was going to run a
small screw through it with a nyloc nut to hold it together but I there is
some sort of switch going through the center that is triggered by pulling
the stem towards you. Is this for "flash to pass" type functionality? Also,
does anyone have a suggestion as to how I could hold the assembly together
in such a way that would allow me to keep this switch functional? I used a
two part epoxy but that doesn't seem to be holding the remnants of the rivet
in place. I guess another option would be for me to try and find one at the
British Invasion. Does anyone know if this unit is fairly common? It appears
to be a standard Lucas part.

Thanks in Advance,
Kurt
