As long as it is supported by such a plank, the wheels would not have
needed to come off. The key is that it has to be supported by something
that can roll with the rest of it. My error was that I didn't notice that
while the floor jack was rolling along, it was also slowly slipping to the
edge of the cross member. I lucked out big time. Had those motor mounts
broken or ripped, I would have had my engine crash down on the ground
smashing my oil pan and who knows what else.
