It would be very difficult, if not impossible, to put the OD back on
after removal if the gearbox is being left in the car. You really
should remove the gearbox and THEN remove the OD. There are two, for
lack of knowing the proper term, "pilot bushings" that the OD shaft
must fit through. If these are not lined up perfectly it is impossible
to reinsert the shaft. It is very easy to get them out of alignment
when the OD is removed. You need to have a clear view of what's inside
and proper clearance in order to align them.
