Clive,
I've heard that it's easier to take them into the UK, than it is to take them out
of theUK. My advice based upon importing into the US, is to take the shipping
quote and double it. I've had calls in the middle of the night wanting money for
everything from emergancy brake repair to debugging the car. The magic number is
always $500.00 too. Maybe I was scammed, but what can you do. They've got your
car sitting on their dock. If you don't pay, you get charged some ridiculous
amount for storage while it just sits there. It's best if you have a nice running
car that they can simply drive on and off the ship. If it doesn't run, be
prepaired. Oh yah, don't leave anything valuable or loose in it either. I've
heard stories about valuables being stolen from cars. I had one that someone
wrote "DOG" all over. Luckily the car was scheduled to be restored. If you can
afford to take it with you, it might be wise. Good honest cars are getting hard
to come by these days. It might be hard to find another one that compares. Sounds
like a tough decision. Good Luck - Ian
