Ron's right, as promised I went and checked last night and the part number
he gives for Series IV and V is correct. Chris McGovern's book is also
right, as I verified these numbers from the factory Workshop manual
The outside diameter of the coilspring for Series I and II is 3.87 inches,
and for the Series 3 it is 4.40 inches
I do not have a workshop manual for Series IV and V

there was also various other measurements of static laden length but I
didn't want to get too deep
